What happens to pregnant chinese women who evade social-services to get around the child-quantity-limits?

heard on some crazy blog that if a woman is about to have a kid beyond her limit, that if she goes into hiding, they take “necessary measures to ensure she complies”.

What are these necessary measures that this person speaks of?
Oh maybe I’m naive, but I was famaliar with mandatory pregnancy testing.

So you mean a woman in china who is middle-upper class can have 4 kids with no punishment?

No, the Chinese government hasn’t forced women to have abortions for years now. It used to be the village “Granny Police” who kept an eye out for preggos, but no more. China’s economy is far better off now (obviously), there is work and many middle-class couples can afford it. They’re not reliant on the perks one-child families get from the government. They can do without them, or pay out of pocket.

*Yes, if the family can afford it. Nowadays many can. There’s a middle class where there used to be none.
